This red deer stag painting came about because the farm manager at Heneage Estate in the Lincolnshire Wolds approached me to visit the farm and photograph the deer. I chose an image from the day and created this piece in acrylics on deep sided canvas. I placed the deer into a night time woodland setting to add drama. When I revisited the farm to show the manager the resulting painting I learned that the stag's name is Gordon. I came home with a set of his antlers.
