This red deer calf lives in the Lincolnshire wolds. I photographed him on a summer day in a field surrounded by the rest of the herd. I initially painted him in a pastoral setting, but there wasn't enough drama in the composition. He now stands on the edge of a wood in a night time setting. Painted in acrylics on a deep sided canvas with expressive brush strokes.
